I wonder what that is growing? Do you know if the crab is in the tank or in the wild?

I saw a hermit crab with 2 of those on his shell this summer at the beach. I assumed that they were some sort of anemone.

ive actually got a hermit crab with that same type of anemone growing on his back.. hes too agressive to keep with anything though.. hes all alone in a five gallon..
