OH Snap! I didnt mean to put down 130 it was more like 120. Can probably come up with one of my old time slips though.
AFTRHRS:
since your in "the speed business" You know that hp to weight ration is a sole factor in racing. as well as REACTION TIME, Hook up off the line , gearing, shifting and just plane driving. and I would say that with My 100 shot with an estimated 420+ hp to the rear wheels I had a prety damn good power to weight ratio. If you do the math for he weight versus HP + lenght of the track You will see that the numbers are right. It all comes down to timing and power with low poundage in the ride, and how well you hook up and launch. I couldnt get the B2 to hook up off the line untile I bought a pair of Mickey T's cheater's. The difrence in a 10 second run and a 12 second run is only around ummm... Ohh.... 200 PLUS HP DUDE. Quite a large margin. even if you only loose some pounds to make the time you only gain an 1/10th of a second or less for every 100 pounds shaved. A friend of mine has a 71 Chevelle With a 427 stroked and poked with over 600 ponies and he runs 10's! Why ? Because his reaction times suck and he dosent always hook up good. ( no to mention the car is 4020lbs.)
DOnt want to get into to serious of a debate here but there are a lot more factors then plain HP in the quarter.
130 on the highway was a definate. I didnt say it did it smoothly.
Look at Ford galaxie. prety much a freak'n box. But you put a 427cj in that puppy and I promise you will see 130 on the highway.
The truck only wieghed in at 3200lbs. Not to mention it was a BRONCO2 NOT A FULL SIZE TRUCK.
Ryan:
The reason your running 140 @9 seconds in the quarter with over 600 ponies ( I 'm sure) with close to 500+ lbs o' tourqe is your launch , Gearing and serious neck spaping tourqe to luanch you VERy quickly past the 100ft marker. Combine that with a wieght probably around....2300 max pounds for the vette ( Just a guess looks like it has a tube chasis in the pic?)and there ya go.
Edited to release inocent victim's! LOL HAHAHAaaaa! Just playing Ryan! Hope to see you at the track some time dude! With a little luck my grand-prix will be finished by next season and I'll get a chance to show you it's wicked ways!
