I think that is the nature of the red ones. I don't know what kind they are and I can't get anyone to identify them. They look kool and healthy to me tho. The purple have done that same thing since I got them over a year ago. It seems they "reach" out more if the water quality is perfect. DUNNO????
I was thinking the "reaching" thing could be because of the lights? Maybe they could be worn out, they are about 5 months old. The lights are one "Sunburst" Metal bulb with 12 thousand Kelvins and 175 Watts. I also have one 65 Watt Actinic light on top of that. I do have some cheesy lunar lights as well.
