Very nice pics, I think the Tang looks a little hungry though(belly area looks a little sunken). Great job, I really like the SPS corals. That Birdsnest will be wicked awesome when it grows out, it has so many growth tips going all over the place. Keep on reefin.

wow, mixing sps and softies? i thought that was a nono chemical warfare wise (softies prohibiting sps growth). very nice looking tank :)
what size? how does that hk work? i'm thinking of getting 2 for my 90 and was warned that it may be too much

thanx. the tank has been up since march 2007. i also hv a 150 gallon fish only w a few corals. the only softies is the toadstool, so chemical warfare isnt there. besides i run carbon. i dont feed the fish too often. once per day. tryng to move my tang to my 150 but the damn 3 stripe damsel is there terrorizing everyone.

you also have palythoas, zoos, GSP, & clove or xenia. I always thought they would inhibit the sps growth even with carbon, that's one of the reasons i don't try them. i of course could be way out of whack though.

i thought only leathers pretty much release bad chemicals to inhibit coral growth. most toadstools i think are peaceful and dont really wage chemcial warfare. i havent seen any sps growth retardation. in fact, the xenia under my toadstool is growing like crazy. and so r the caps.

odd, i might be mistaken then :)
i'd suggest a couple fighting conches btw :) theyd clean up your substrate in no time, i love mine!

I have Xenia, daisy polyps, zoa's, shrooms(they do kill by stinging),GSP's, and SPS in my tank too. The only way my SPS get bothered is from encroaching corals. I am in the process of getting my shrooms out of the tank, and maybe most of the GSP, the stuff spreads all over the place and is taking over in areas. I use Cerith and Nassarius snails and Cucumbers to keep the sand clean, they do an excellent job for that, I never have crap in the sand bed(knock on wood). This is one time I would suggest feeding more, maybe same amount or slightly more, just broken up in two or three feedings, so the Tang can get more to eat. Does it have algae to graze on during the day? Do you add any vitamins to your food? When I got mine, about 2 yrs. ago, his belly was a little sunken, took awhile, but he is one of the fattest in the tank now. I only feed once a day now, but before the tank was a FOWLR and I would feed twice a day to keep some aggression in check.
Excellent job, keep up the good work.

Looks awesome! I'm also mixing sps and softies - have had 1/2 success so far. About 1/2 of my sps just don't seem to like it.
Again, did you happen to say how big the DT is?

the reef is 72 bowfront. i hv a 150 gallon fish only i will post updated pics for. my yellow doesnt eat seaweed sheet i put in, only the sailfin likes it. i do add vitamin to the food there and there. i used to hv a cabbage coral in there, but heard they r toxic to sps, so i had it in my 150 now.
