Greetings, I have a few questions and would appreciate any help I could get.
My setup is: 72 gal, wet/dry filter, ~6-7 months old.
Fish: Porc Puffer, Yellow Tang, Yellow-eye tang, V Lion, Grouper (leapord? white with black spots), 2 urchins
My first question: My 72 gal fish-only tank sits in a room that is fairly dark. No windows and the light normally stays off till around 5pm in this room. I went out and bought a timer to automatically turn on my hood lighting. My question is about how many hours in a day should I keep the hoodlight on my tank. I really dont want to run it all day because of Algae issues, but then again I don't want my fish to be in the dark all day either.
Second question is: For some reason I am having difficulty keeping my tank crystal clear. The water appears to be somewhat cloudy when you look in the tank from End to End (with the hoodlight on). I did a 20% water change 2 weeks ago tommorrow and it still seems to be just as cloudy. I try to feed my fish just enough so there is no waste. The puffer makes a pretty big mess, but I dont think his mess is enough to cloud the tank like this. My Wet/Dry filter only has the plastic Bio balls, no charcoal.
Lastly, for some reason I have nitrite in my tank again. Not too much, but it is there. I am not sure if something happened to my bio balls or what, but my test shows my nitries at about .1-.2 ppm where up and till now it was 0.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Aaron
