A fish....on the plane..?

As the name implies, i plan to bring a fish on a plane. be fore i get any crazy comments, let me explain myself!
So, im currently vacationing in orange county CA, and damn do they have alot of LFS! holy cow! Anyways, back home in WI, there is not a great selection of local fish shops sadly. I have found my self a beautiful Mandarin Dragonet and a perfect RBTA that im planing to get.
I have already called TSA and the FAA about their regulation on bring a fish as a carry on, and they said aslong as it was in a sealed, clear container, and the fish / organism was alive, it could go onto the plane, and that a live fish is the only exception to the 3 - 1 -1 -1 rule as for water amounts. The flight is a straight shot from where i am now back home, with a meer 1 hour layover in Denver. the flight leaves at 5am and we arive back home roughly at 2pm. So i figure a 7 hour transportation time is alot better than overnight mail or priority, and the fact that the fish will be sitting on my lap the entire time.
My question is, how should i package the little guys and his invertebrate friend? Im thinking 2 plastic cups that you get coleslaw in at the supermarket, the ones that are like... 8 inches high and about 5 inches across that have sealable lids. and then just set them in a styrofoam box to keep them somewhat shielded. Should i use a battery operated air-pump for the fish or both?
I believe i have to get the fish the night before we leave because i doubt the shop owner would want to be at the store at 4 am, so im thinking ill get a gallon of extra water and do a 'water' change for the fish in the morning before departure.
Does this all sound like a solid plan?

Find out if the store owner normally ships fish and have him fill the bag with Oxygen then DO NOT do the water change keep it in the styrafoam box as planned so the temp will stay even...(just like being shipped overnight)

thanks for the input! not sure if just a bag will pass through TSA, because they may not see that as fully sealable, but i like the oxygen idea though.

Will a bagged fish make the trip, with out springing a leak from the altitude change?

Geo they go in planes all the time so I cant imagine that its a constant problem??? maybe double bag or a bag within the plastic container?

Well, i went out and just picked them up! the mandarin is nice and plump and very vibrant in color! The nem wasnt too happy about being placed in its to-go container and imidiatly retracted its bulbs into its body.
I decided on some larger bowl tuppaware containers with lids, and a cardboard box with styrofoam inserts lining the sides and bottom. ( i think i need to leave the top slightly excessable for the security inspection.
a question has surfaced, this is my first anemone, so will it be ok with a full 24 hours of no light, starting tonight? i will be able to get it back under light this time tomorrow.

My nem was shipped overnight. Also, I have kept my lights off for a week and them lived. If its healthy, you should be fine.
I remember seeing a fish getting kicked off a Southwest flight on at least 2 different occasions (on that show on TV). I don't know if you will really be allowed on the flight with the critters. The TSA is subjective. It depends on who you get and if they are having a bad day.

good point! i also called the airline im flying with (frontier) had they do have a live fish policy too, so i should be good there. as for TSA, were flying out of a smaller airport at 5am, so i figure ill have to to talk with the security personal and explain the situation. but ive called TSA a few times and all their awnsers seem to all be the same.
