I am on vacation and have found a cool little kind of fish. I would like to take one of them home, but I am 5 hours from home. Help please. Also the fish hides in the seaweed and is a gold orange color and some white pokadots on him. He also has a fin that looks like a horn on top. If someone knows what kind of fish it is... And all of them have been about the size of a dime. I have also caught some crabs that hide in the seaweed to. Same color with the white dots.
Thanks

I don't know about the transporting, but please make sure you find out what kind of fish it is and it's needs before you take it home.

Yes, I absolutely agree. Try to get a positive ID on the fish BEFORE you take it home, so that you know you can provide the right care for this animal.

I mean, what beach are you at????
If this is anywhere north of say South Carolina, I would not take it back as it is possibly a temperate water animal and will not survive well.
But should you take anything home, remember this:
IMO You are OBLIGATED to KILL that animal should it outgrow your tank, and NEVER release it back into the wild. This is irresponsible, and damages not only the ecosystem but the appearance of hobbyists in the public and scientific eye. It risks introduction of "foriegn" diseases and parasites.
DO NOT COLLECT anything that you can no positively identify, and once identified, that you can provide a permanent home for.

I have found out what it is, it is a Planehead Filefish. I am in Destin, Florida. I havent captured the fish yet, I catch them with a net and let them go. I have caught about 20 of them. I would not take a fish home I couldnt identify.
