so I ordered 30 pounds of lalo live rock yesterday and pay extra to have it overnighted to me. When I get it today, the box is upside down, the cardboard is wet, tattered and falling apart, the styrofoam box inside is broken into 5 pieces, and the formerly wet rock inside is dry as a bone. This should be fun

Oh, no! Let the vendor know about it right away, and it also wouldn't hurt to notify the shipping carrier. I don't know if you can get anything back, but you should be able to get something since it was damaged.
Looks like you're going to have to cure it again. Good luck!

yeah, the FedEx guy was like "it looks like there is some shipping damage" as the box is dripping out of what was once the top but now is the bottom. They noted that there was damage and I emailed the vendor. I was going to re-cure it when it came just to get any die-off off, looks like its going to be a while now.

Well, considering SWF ships via FedEx also, you may not have been any better off as far as the shipping damage goes. I am not a fan of FedEx at all, although I have had good luck with both of my livestock orders from SWF despite FedEx being the carrier.

The rock is very colorful. I didnt see alot of life when I was scrubbing but time will tell when I do a water change. Its in a 30g plastic tote curing right now, and I should be changing the water sunday am sometime. I will have a better look at it then. It was dry enough when it came that I was more concerned about trying to get it in some water rather than inspect for any happy hitchikers. I will post some pics once it cures. I guess one of the redeeming qualities, other than the color, is that they gave me a good variety of sizes of rock. There is one large piece which is maybe 12-13 pounds, a couple 4 or 5 pound smaller ones, and a couple of nice colored branch pieces. I think once its all cured it will look great in my 40g that already has 20 pounds of fiji and 10 of base rock that is starting to become live.

That is stunning rock. Eventhough you will have to somewhat cure it, probably not long though, it is well worth the trouble. OUTSTANDING!!
