hello eveyrone.
i have a quick ? for you all. i have some pieces of sps. now what seems to happen is when i get them, they loose just a little bit of color. to a point where they dont look the same. the colors wil darken up a little bit and not be as vibrant.. also what seems to happen is all the undersides that arent getting direct light are turning almost white like they are bleaching but its not bleached.
for example, looking at the tank there is a huge piece of slimer someone gave me. looking at it, it looks real nice. if you look from a lower angle looking up at it, you can see the dull/white/brown look im referreing to.
is this normal?
is it time for metal halides?
i am running TEK t-5's 8x54W.. 5 actinic lights, and 3x 10 k's. i just order new bulbs and went with 5 actnincs. a 6500K , 12K and a fiji purple bulb. these are on the way.
any ideas on the 2 questions above.

You will be fine with t5, but you may need the right combination of bulbs. Also, do you acclimate your corals to the light? If you set them up at the surface right away, or too quick, it could be some of your problem. How about pictures? The new bulbs should help. Check out this t5 tank, and the combo he uses of bulbs. Front to back.
