A Sump In My Established 55 Gal

I have a 55 gallon tank thats been running for about 2 months and i decided i wanted a sump
i have 30lbs of live rock and about 25 of laced tock
i have 4 damsels
1 scisortail( do they hibernate hes been gone for about 4 days i see his tail and he looks fine he doesnt eats or do anyting)
and a firefish
along with inverts and candycane corals
PC lighting about 200 wats total atinic and daylight
my question is had anyone tried making a sump and drilling the tank
its a walmart brand and ima risk it
onother thing too is will i have to start my cycle all over or can i just put everything in tubs and work on it till i finish it and re put everything in it

You don't have to drill the tank. Just use an overflow box and run all of the piping over and into the tank. You won't have to empty out your tank or anything.

The walmart 55's can't be drilled. You'll have a serious mess on your hands if you try to drill it.

I've drilled one of them myself.

You will likely get a mini cycle. You can of course do a HOB as suggested.

before connecting the tank to the sump make sure you let the sand settle and run a powerhead in there. the first time I did this I didn't and it wiped out nearly half my corals and kept my tank cloudy for a week.
