a whole school of fish

I have a 1,000 gal. tank with a 100 gal. sump/ live rock filter.
I want to have a school of realy small fish like minnows or something.dosent have to be fancy just lots of them like 20 - 40
any suggestions?????????

Chromis are probably the best fish for that. I have a school of 7 in my 180g. They look great.

I like anthias, and am considering getting some for my tank... but, if the OP really wants like 20+ fish to school, anthias probably aren't the best choice. They're much more expensive, but they also require a lot more free floating food which with that many fish could be a problem. The OP would have to have an automatic feeder dropping a ton of plankton several times a day. It could also be detrimental to the tank's overall health. JMO though.

Another thought....
If all you're going to get are the schooling fish and nothing else, you could do damsels. There are many varieties that you could get, and do a school of each (odd numbers, though). In those kinds of numbers, they won't be nearly as aggressive towards each other or the other types of damsels. They also have a bunch of different cool colors that might make your tank look pretty nice.

The chromis does look like my best bet although I was hoping someone knew of somethig way smaller. as for pictures Ill work on it. just fyi its not realy my tank I take care of it at a large RV dealership in South Carolina thanks for the help though.

neon gobies, idk if they school though i know they hang in pairs.

X2 for the anthias and glass cardinal idea.
You should also post pictures. Telling us you have a 1,000gal tank and not showing us makes us angry...

Ok im trying I got a camera and took some realy lousy pictuires downloaded them to my computer then went to the right forum but dont know what to do from here is there a help with posting pictures area ?

there's not much info on Sgt. Majors not very flashy I know but will the school ? I cant spend 20 or 30 dollars per fish in an experimental school of 20 fish

Yes. Go to photobucket dot com and setup a free acount, load pics there then you can use that site to cope and paste to your post.
