I am looking to get myself a sump setup. How exactly do they work, and would I be able to use my magnum 350 convertible canister filter as the drive force for the water? :happyfish
I have a 75 gallon tank, magnum 350 does 350gph.. is that sufficient enough to force the water thru it enough?

Well a sump is normally below the main tank. Most people use 20 gallons but its up to the size or the tank. ALso if your tank isnt drilled you will need an overflow which run around $70 and that should include the hose to go to the sump. Then you will need the astual sump. and also a return pump. depending on the size from the sump to the tank ie return to the tank. will determain the size of the pump needed. Most people use the mag pumps but you can get a cheaper one if you wanted. Look at pics of people sumps on DIY and you can get an idea how it works.
