I just lost a flame angel a few weeks ago to ick(stresse). I went to my LFS to pick me up a new flame angel I bring him home put him in QT and bout two weeks later my BLEEP fish has ick in my QT with copper.
What in the world is going on with flame angels, I have never had any luck with them this is my 2nd flame and I lost a bi-color when I first started.

I have experienced ich flareups AFTER you'd think the fish is clear, still in qtine, week(s) into the process - with either copper OR hypo alone. However I've had great success combining methods once the flare up starts. (I know others who've had the same thing happen, well into the hypo olny or copper traetment)
I'd run BOTH hypo and copper...Also which copper med are you using? and what test kit brand do you have?

Cupramine copper, and API test kit.
Oh - I think the API kit is for chleated copper (or buffered) and Cupramine is IONIC copper. Am fairly sure that you should be using the test kit made by seachem (who makes cupramine too). . I know from a bad expirence (killed an entire Qtine tank of fish in the beginning) cause the test kit I was using was not measuring the true copper level and I kept adding Cupramine to get the level high enough - next morning, about 6 fish were dead. (this was 10 years ago, maybe the api kit is diferent these days, but I use the API kit with Coppersafe (buffered copper)

EDIT: just checked the API product website and it claims that the test works with both "free" or "chleated" copper (free is the same as ionic). But I've never used the API kit for Cupramine (since the disaster 10 years ago) and I use coppersafe w/API test kit.
