First of all, Hi. A few people have told me that fine sand and crushed coral shouldn't be used in a reef tank.. Now I don't know how knowledgeable they are so I decided to come on here and ask your opinions. BTW, I already have a ton of sand and crushed coral in my empty tank so hopefully I don't have to buy different stuff!!! Also, if I shouldn't use that, what would everyone recommend? And finally, where do you think is the best place to get live rock online? This site says "large, oval shaped." I'm looking more for medium and different shaped pieces. And I'm also not trying to get scammed. So if you could share your experience I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!

sugar sized sand is best.you could use the crushed coral but it will collect waste and you will have to vacuum clean it.
what kind od sand do you have it might be ok?
unless it is like dust fine .
as for rock it is getting tough to find lr as it is.
i would just call the online store and ask questions like size, shape and if it is precured.if it is precured you should put it in a tote for a week and keep checking the ammonia and nitrites till they are zero.if your tank has no fish or corals you can cycle it in the tank.
good luck
