Above tank refugium.

I was thinking of making an above tank refugium. Will the weight of a ten gallon tank resting on a 33 long be a problem? I want to pump up with a powerhead and a hole in the bottom will feed down. I have the water levels figured to avoid spill. Just worried about the weight. I still have to drill the bottom of the 10 gallon. If I decide to do the output drill holw on the side of the tank is there a difference in glass from bottom or side. Thanks.

Good question. An aquarium isn't designed to support a load applied like that. As well as the 10g would not have weight distribution of its load.
So I would say it wouldn't be a good idea in the long term. Above tank fuges are great ideas though. Is there a dresser or table nearby that could support it?
