is anyone watching the Brickyard 400???
WTF is going on??? "Competition Yellow"??? good god arent these professional drivers??? they have run so few laps on green, and ESPN has the audacity to run commercials during the green???
NASCAR and Good Year need to have their heads checked!!!
i turned it off... they should have just run 20 laps and called it the Brickyard 40... as of right now i thing the pace car has the most laps lead... RIDICULOUS!!!

Yep, similar to the fiascos of Formula 1 racing in Indianapolis a few years back. Because of that F1 is not racing in Indy any longer. Their surface sucks.

Was it every 10 or 15 laps a yellow flag was thrown? As you said they are professional drivers, let them race. I didnt get it, the drivers are smart enough to know when there tires are going away.

ugg, it was interesting, did you see the 17. At some point goodyear has got to want to pull their sponsorship, because after this year, I'm never buying goodyears again.

What's even more enfuriating is how they are justifying it now. To repeadly use the line "we tried our best," ain't mean squat. The Patroits tried their best to win the Superbowl, but came up short. They don't get an "our best' trophy. And how they're justifying having Goodyear as the sole tire monopoly is a good thing because of "all they've done." Sorry, but competition builds better products.

Spidey, those were Michelin tires that had the issue. Supposedly the tires weren't designed to run on that high of banking. The F1's generate so much downforce at those speeds, they aren't sliding around like the Nascar cars. Which, BTW, the COT car has about 50% less downforce then the old car. Which, IMO, is why we saw the issues. So it wasn't so much of an issue of the abrasive surface with the F1 teams. I remember a couple tires let go in practice/qualifying? One of which was a serious crash?
But what happened was, the Michelin F1 teams took the start, but came in the pits right after and parked it. Only the Bridgestone teams raced. I'm surprised none of the Nascar teams did that. This was a serious injury/death waiting to happen, and Nascar should thank their lucky stars that didn't happened.

Well, when you throw a yellow every ten laps you don't have to worry about it.

if you watched and listened to the race... they said the tires were wearing way too fast and about halfway through the race they would have been out of tires.. they flew 400 tires in from Pocono Raceway to be able to finish the race.. the competition yellows were so no one had a tire blow out and got seriously injured or died from the bad tires

We all knew that, but it's just the fact that the race sucked with competition yellows. That's the point everybody was making.

thats where being a professional race car river comes into play... knowing how to drive in the conditions given to you and not whining about it... it was a disgrace... it would have been better to just skip the whole race until they got the tire sitch figured out...
this also brings up another issue... teams should be able to choose what tire they use!!! you dont see every single football, baseball or basketball player wearing the same shoes...

Well, imo it would have been far more interesting to tell these guys hey the tires are going to last 10 laps, it is up to you. And just let them run. IMO why let them run 40 on their own but not ten? They know their limits...
I don't think they should be allowed to use different tires.
