Which type is quieter for a canopy fan?? I have 2-120mm AC, in my canopy now. Not to noisy but not silent either. Seem AC fans are more expensive than DC also.
I am going to order some for back-up...Any suggestions?

I put 4-104cfm AC fans in my canopy over my 120. Only 1 is plugged in now. With all 4 on it sounded like a turbo jet. Plus 416cfm was way more than I needed.

I would put a dimmer on the fans (use fan dimmer, not light dimmer!). I run them on real low in the winter and higher in the summer. I like having the ability to really kick them up if the temp flies out of control. then it doesn't matter if your fan is overkill.

i think its more about the cfms and rpm of motor than anything, but dc draws less power, they also seem to be smaller and have higher rpms
