I have been trying to research on Acans and Favias but havent gotten very far. I would like to know whats the difference between the two, lighting requirements, flow, and feeding techniques.
Thanks for the help

Well I have one of each. I have a Favites Pentagona and an Acanthastrea Lordhowensis.
They are very different in appearance, but actually are similar from a care standpoint. The Favites has much smaller mouths than the Acan. They get fed the same food (cyclopeeze & coral frenzy) but the Acan can eat Mysis.
I have them both placed in the sand bed under T5 lighting. in a moderate flow environment.
Hope that helps. I can take a picture of them next to each other if you like.

As promised. Acan on the Left, Favites on the Right

You can really see the difference in mouth size.

another big differance is price
brains you can get for $20-$40 depending on size and acans are much more, upwards of $500+ for rare colors, but i have found a few 2 head frags for $10 of common color
jpc-looks like ur favite is recovering nicely from the little bleaching it had

i think you could keep both. just raise/lower them on the rockwork as needed.

Sweet! - I went to the LFS and came across what had to be the ugliest Acans i have ever seen and they still wanted 80 bucks for them. Great to know that i can have these but will have to keep an eye out for some pretty ones.
THanks
