Acclimating and caring for corals

I have been steadily adding new corals to my aquarium which is a seventy five gallon 4ft tank. I have two metal hallide 250 watts and four 65watt 14k actinic. The place where I buy most of my corals does not have such strong lighting and they seem to have trouble acclimating to the lighting. I know that our water qualities are similar so I am just assuming that it is lighting. I bought a green leather coral and withing a couple of days it seemed to be shrinking. Not the mushroom looking head but it seems to be getting shorter. I do not know the cause but I'm sure curious if that could be lighting and if so what should I do?

lighting and stress. Start it at the bottom of the tank and slowly move it higher if you want it closer to the top, I keep my leather in the bottom third of my tank and I have t5's.

Do have any spots under a rock that could give it some shade. Also once you settle it don't move it too much,

What about cutting way down on your lighting cycle for a week or two, maybe only 2-3 hours of day with the halides on

well.. I'd say since your new add on is already at the bottom.. cut down on the lighting.. maybe use just the pc's for about 3-5 days and if this isnt possible.. try using some type or cover to put over your coral.. I use a diy stand for mine.. Its just an egg crate stand about 8 inches tall with some mess over the top to cut down the lighting on my new corals until they get used to it. and since you just got the new coral, I wouldnt worry about it right away. It can take up to 3 weeks for a coral to recover fully after adding it to your tank
