First question
Do you have a quarantine tank?
If not you should get one setup, its your choice though, my first few fish I didnt quarantine but when I got a blue hippo tang I said to myself Dude youve stretched your luck you should quarantine this guy, so I did, and what do you know? the tang got ich. So instead of infecting my entire main tank I only lost the tang. Check the first section of the thread out by beth for more info on quarantine https://www.saltwaterfish.com/vb/showthread.php?t=127007
Like I said its your choice but from experience I suggest getting a quarantine tank
Now for your question
Check out this nice friendly video brought to us by Saltwaterfishdotcom

As far as the snail goes you can just float it for about 20 to 30 minutes and put it in. The wrasse needs to be drip acclimated. I am not a fan of wrasses but they are pretty cool to look at. If you don't have a quarantine float him for 15 minutes or so and then drip acclimate for about an hour and double the amount of water he came in and he will be ready to go in the tank.

I've done it the way I described (well actualy the video described) and the way that you described. Ive found that the fish is much less stressed when you do the video method. Theres nothing wrong with the float method its just more stressfull to the fish

Follow the acclimation link on the left that SWF.com has posted. It's a good one. I also agree with everyone recommending a QT for all your fish.
