acclimating starfish

Could someone give me an overview of the proper way to acclimate a new starfish. I want to get one and would like to do it properly. Thanks.

What type of starfish are you getting?

When I acclimate stars,I float the bag for 10 minutes,then open the bag,take a shot glass,poor one once into the bag,do this every 3 minutes until the water in the bag has doubled,then poor half out,and repeat the one ounce thing again until the water has doubled,then put the star in the tank.This method works great.

And do NOT expose the starfish to air!
