Ok evidently I'm ignorant on this issue
. For years I temp acclimated, dipped twice and then placed corals in tank. Told this system was bad, I was told to drip ~ now based on information I've been reading in a current thread, this is also bad. So, if you've ever wanted to flame me, here's your chance, but please educate me on the best practice method of acclimating corals. Do you really just open the bag and put them in your tank?

best way..open bag, take out coral. let in the air for about 10sec to slime up..in they go. You are done they do not need any acclimation and never ever lost anything from doing this way.

I have always floated the closed bag for temp balance then take the coral out of the bag and put it in the tank where I want it to be.
Probably takinig a chance on not doing some type of dip treatment first like Lugols or whatever but this is what I do.

well the lugols is not really part of acclimating. thats dosing for pest. I do that alot o my sps..I will put about 10-15drops of it in the bag for about 5min..then give it a good shake before I open the bag to shake free the little guys if any that are dead or stunned...then into the tank. but I wouldnt call this really acclimation

Amazing ~ thanks guys! and this is done w/ every type of coral ~ hard and soft? Iodine dip only on the SPS? How about Zoas? I read in one thread that they also often carry several parasites?
