I agree with the previous comments. However if you don't have a hospital tank and order fish from here follow the instructions to a tee and your fish will be fine if conditions in the tank are good. IF you buy from a local shop then Slowly acclimate the fish by slowly adding your tank water into his bag over a period of time. Make sure the lights are off in the tank so his stress level remains low...I feed the other fish a little bit so they won't go after him when I let him out.. I now have a hospital tank and quarantine any newcomers there first.

If I get a quarantine tank and put the fish in there first,then after a couple of weeks do I acclimate the fish to the main tank? I bring the fish home from a local shop,making sure he has had the fish for a couple weeks and it is eating then I bring him home and acclimate.

These may be a stupid questions but...
Do you keep the quarentine tank running between purchases? If not, how do you keep the tank from cycling?
What kind of substrate is kept in the qt?
Can you use the qt as a hospital tank?
