Acclimation

Ok I just got my first fish
Is it ok if I dumped it into an saltwater bucket(originally an sea salt bucket) and put a couple cups of my tank water into there for 3 hours
is it ok?

did you get the fish from a local live store? or from a online store? but i would suggest to acclimate the fish the way they state to on this website it works great for me . i think the problem with doing it the way you stated is that the process of acclimation is to slowly adjust the temp and the fact that the water quality could be very different then whats in the bad and whats in the tank thats why they say to slowly let the fish adjust to the new water. like i said i am new to this all but i believe its best to keep the fish as happy as ya can and slow seems to be the case. hope this helps!

Drip acclimate the fish for at least an hour with water from your DT. If you are using your old salt bucket make sure it is well rinsed out with (preferably) RO water.
