Ok I have a shipment of snails and crabs coming in tomorrow. I want to do the floating bag method where you add water.
Am I supposed to float the bag for 15 minutes and then add a 1/2 cup of aquarium water every 30 minutes until the bag is double the amound and then pour half the amount of water and continue until its doubled again?
I dont want to loose these guys and I need the best acclimating possible.
Thanks

I always just drip acclimate.

I also drip acclimate. I used to do the bag method you are refering to but I have found my success rate to be much higher with drip acclimation.

Ok can you tell me an easy cheap drip way of doing it?
I figure a bucket with a small airline hose and a knot in it. Question is, can I open all the bags and put them in the same bucket? Im worried that some of the bags have different salinity then others

I'm bad with acclimation (not patience)and I know it (I also have been running low salinity and it's been JUST FINE so I dont need to here more on that) my point is that I have to think about acclimation so I test the water it comes in and have found that most of the time the salinity is low in the water it comes in and I try to change accordingly

I acclimate by floating my bag for 15 minutes. Remove half of the bag in the water and then add a cup of water every 15 minutes for an hour and a half. Worked every time. What kind of crabs and snails are they?

The SG should be the same if they are comming from the same place. Inverts are usually kept at a higher SG than the fish tanks are. They are generally on different systems too. Just test the bags to be sure. If you have a good amount of hose then you can cut pieces for different drip lines to each bag.

I always use drip acclimation. You need to acclimate the new arrival to your water, so it makes sense to do it slowly so as not to stress them. I use a separate container for each bag. Watch the acclimation video on this site and follow their instructions. Also, follow their acclimation time guidelines for each species you order.

I just chip clip the bag to the side of the aquarium poke a small hole in it, and drip acclimate it. Drip acclimation for inverts is about 1hr30m. I acclimated mine during an extended lunch hour, due to a surprise delivery, and had no losses in 1hr15m.

That is a game of Roulette. Inverts slowly die from acclimation shock. How long have you had these inverts??
