Acro Growth

Are acros in general slow growers?
I bought a few a couple of months ago and I am seeing some growth but VERY slow. The frags have a least encusted the frag blocks that they came on so I guess that's a good sign. Now the elkhorn I got is growing fast!

I am no expert when comes to SPS, but I do belive I read somewheres that they can be pretty quick, bu I think i was only for certainspeies, like elkhorn, and birdsnest. I know for sure they are fast growers! What is your system like (i.e. lighting, tank size, flow, ect.)? Might help us figure out why they are not growing at peak growth rate.

are you dosing and keeping dkh and calcium stable?

My ca is about 480 and my alk is 9 which is high because I put too much in the other day. My ca tends to stay pretty good but my alk tries to drop pretty fast so I have to monitor it. Other than that, everything seems to be ok. I run 150w metal halides with 4x96w actinics. One of the acros is in the middle of the tank and the other is on the bottom. Everything else is growing well such as the elkhorn, frogspawn. hammer, ... Maybe I just have some slow growing acros.

IME acros will base out, encrust on what they are on, first before they start to grow. No real generalities here though, some grow faster than others but for the most part not something that really takes off on ya.

Yeah that is whart I was told years ago about the encrusting first. Guess I just have to be patient.
