acrylic, plexi glass ???

Hello,
I have been reading a little about acrylic. I am thinking about using it to modify/build some pieces for a refugium. I have a lot of questions though...
Is it the same thing as plexi glass?
Where can you get it? Hardware store, online?
How much is it?
What is the standard thinckness I should be using?

Plexiglass is just a brand name of acrylic. You can get it at Home Depot, but all the stores I've been to only carry it in 1/8" thickness.
For a refugium, I wouldn't be comfortable with anything less than 1/4" thick. For that, you would need to go to a plastics store. There's one I know of in Itasca (or somewhere near there). I bought some 1/4" material from them for baffles a few years ago, but just can't remember their name.

Look for a plastics supply house in your area.They will have any thickness you want & will cut it to size for a small charge.

Check your Yellow Pages and look under "Plastics" or acrylic....Should find them under plastic though!!!!
