Acrylic Sump Question

I'm thinking about building a sump and fuge out of acrylic and while I was in home depot the other day i came across sheets of acrylic (1/4") in a small hobby section. Would that acrylic be ok to use on the sump or is there a certain grade of acrylic meant for the aquarium hobby?

The stuff that HD and the like sells is an extruded acrylic product.
You can use it to build a sump, but it tends to absorb water, swell, and discolor when continuously exposed to water. I built a sump out of this stuff a long time ago and it didn't more than a couple years.
Now I use cell cast acrylic for everything I do.
