acrylic tank holders...i figured out how to remove scratchs PERFECTLY

You use 600 sand paper, and 400 wool...and then you use the novus polish kit ( 1,2, and 3) ..and WHOA your tank will look brand new...only took me 3 minutes!
so fear the tanks not...how you can have cool shapes..and no scratchs!

well i did it without water in it because i just bought the tank..i would assume yes...but i dont think you can do it if waters in it...but it would be easy to take your water out ...and leave it in jugs...and remove all your scratchs at one time...only took me alittle while..i would just wash the tank out REALLY well to make sure theres nothing left on the inside of the tank to spread into the water.

yes but we laugh at you when you have to have 4 grown men carry your tank with you ..because its so heavy! ...plus ours doesn't crack...etc..and you'd REALLY REALLY have to hit it to get it to break
both have there advantages...only real downside to acrylic is the scratchs...but now that i know how to remove them its not a huge deal
plus i have sweat rounded corners

didn't bother me finding people to help carry my tank. i don't see any advantages that would turn my head with acrylic, sure their great if your goin 300gal or more but other than that no

My brother and I carried my glass 150 gal tank. It was heavy yes, but neither of us are big huge guys.

says it all right there, you cant do that with glass..and even if you can it would cost an arm and a leg
honestly thats the only reason i bought acrylic, i wanted the corners round...looks more professional imo.

Actually, if I had to do it again, I'm sure I would get acrylic. My tank was $100 from an old roommate, I couldn't pass that up... glass or acrylic :yes: The point I was trying to make is that it doesn't take 4 huge guys to move it.

i got like an old 150 gallon glass and let me tell you i think the thickness alone is a 1/4 the thing must have weighed in the neighbordood of 300lbs it's so heavy but then again the glass is so thick

no round edges just look cleaner...plus you dont see a nasty edge

there are still edges on the back side!! Acrylic is just not worth the price!! Plus how often are you planning on moving your tank around?? Who cares if its heavy, its just gonna sit there with hundreds of pounds of water in it anyways. Id rather have glass and not have to worry about using some special cloth to clean it. i just grab a paper towel and some windex and im good to go!!
ps. lets see some pics of your "scratchless" tank after the buffing!

Sure they have seems in the back but they are clean seems not full of silicone. Acyrlic IS worth the price. I only have a 100watt heater on my 85 gallon and it keeps it at a perfect 78 degrees. Acrylic tanks also have a lifetime warrenty unlike the 10-20 year glass tanks that still can break in that time. The only bad thing is the scratches, but they van easily be taken out. Also, you shouldn't use household cleaners near ANY fish tank.

i would post pictures right now but im in the process of moving, hence a reason for a light tank! ...also...heating is less $$ ..also rounded edges where you SEE the tank ..the back sits against the wall...looks MUCH better ...also if you look at ANY decent tank ..in a professional area or mall/zoo ...etc if its not built into the wall it is acrylic. no one uses glass unless they dont have the money, case to there not on the ball with things and they scratch there tank.
acrylic is way better...also...it doesn't break like glass. i.e kids.

Well, the legal meaning of "lifetime" varies. In Oregon a lifetime warranty like this is enforceable for, I think, seven years. In any event, I'll be delighted if I get 20 years of good service out of my tank. :happy:
I bought acrylic primarily because they're so CLEAR. No green tint,just perfectly clear and colorless. It's just like the water is suspended in mid-air - because the refractive index of the acrylic is so close to water. Sometimes, when the little fish are up against the front, it looks like they're swiming in the air! I love it.

The insulation,light weight, and unbreakability are added benefits. I was willing to be careful, so I saw no reason to get the glass tank. (My last acrylic had no scratches in over five years, but we didn't have kids around either...)
By the way, I have a Truvu 150 gallon acrylic, and the corners are not rounded, unfortunately.
I think it's a chocolate versus vanilla thing.

You mentioned the glass breaking because of kids... The reason I have glass is because of the kids!! I'd be to afraid one of those rug rats will scratch it if it were acrylic!! But you've never seen clarity til you looked into an acrylic tank!! Since you advised how to get scratches out, buying a used one is much more likely!! I wish they'd make a 3 sided glass with the front acrylic tank!! All I want is the clarity, I don't wanna hafta be careful about scraping coralline or anything! I like them both, but for now, I'll hafta like acrylic in somebody else's house...

see i didn't pay the massive amount for an acrylic tank, i bought my whole 125 set up used...this guy from cali bought his whole set up for $7k and a year later didn't want it and sold it to me for $550 ...it had a couple scratchs on the sides NOT the front...so i just took a power buffer to it and the novus polish kit with some sand paper and steel wool and BAM....scratchs be gone...and a ROCK'N fish tank for a college student was made
hehe...
and oh my word am i excited for the clarity.
