Actinics.

What are actinics (I belive i spelt that right)? I have a reef tank. Should i have them?

It the blue uv bulb and yes you should have them reef absorb more uv than white light.

03 antics are 50 of 50/50 lighting found in power compacts

or around the 420NM spectrum and is the most useable light spectrum for corals also gives them the glow that people like to see.

most people turn them on an hour or so before their main lighting, leave them on during their entire duration, and turn them off an hour or so after. this creates a "dawn to dusk" effect, and balances out the color of the other bulbs used.
