Also known as the hell fire anemone due to its very painful sting.
From the Indo-Pacific. Can reach 12 inches. Prefers moderate lighting. Has zooanthellae but also needs to be fed. Reported to kill fish. Minimum 50 gallon tank.
Does best in moderately strong currents, and needs a deep sand bed to bury its foot.
Actinodendron plumosum is a night emerging species. May bury itself in the sand. No clown fish naturally associate with it. Commensal Shrimp (Periclimenes) will host this anemone.

Steelgluer where did you find the name (Actinodendron plumosum) for it or how should I say. I spent hours trying to find it. Glad you found some info on it.

Hey thanks. Been watching how this anem acts. 1 real thing that was interesting to me is at night it takes all it arms and puts them in its mouth, then as soon as the lights come on the next day one by one it pulls them out. Its really pretty cool.

Forgot to add my hippo got wacked by it. It went in after some scalop I fed it. It got 3 little black spots and its nose turned white its all healed now and it stops dead when it comes close to it now. Guess he learned the hard way
