Added live sand / rock

Switching over from fish only I have had my 55g for about 6 7 months now and switching to reef. I have about 40-50lb of live rock and I just added about 7-8lb of more sand ( live ). Is this going to be a problem? Also I have put copper in the water about a month or 2 ago for ick before I had any of the LR or LS.
I've done quite a few water changes since then and I didn't put very much. Is everything ok to start adding fish / corals? Water parameters are looking good and the sand has settled down.

I think poly filters will remove copper. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong. I'd just run one of those in whatever filter device you use for a week or so.

I would be concerned about the copper. When I started my two tanks, I filled with treated tap water. (how much we learn in such a short time!)
Wanting to know what was in there, I tested for copper (test kits available). I was at ZERO <WHEW>
If it was me, I would test. But, what does a rookie know!
