Adding a de-nitrator to the tank

Does anyone know the best way for me to add Matrix (de-nitrate) to my 37gallon Eclipse tank? My lfs told me to put the pebbles (or more like rocks!) in a stocking and place them underneath my filter cartridge in my canister. This is fine except now, I'm getting water overflow like the biowheel is blocked or something. I called Seachem who makes the product and they said that the Matrix can actually go anywhere inside the tank as long as it's in something that won't leak or break. Won't my fish/hermits try to mess/dig in it if I put it somewhere like on the bottom with my ls? I definately need to place this stuff somewhere other than my filter cartridge. Any suggestions?

So you are talking about a de-nitrate media, not a mechanical denitrator....
The stocking may not be allowing enough water to flow through it, which is like adding a big rock, doing nothing more than displacing water. You can buy mesh bags that have a larger netting holes than stockings. That may help. Your LFS should have them.
You can also place this bag directly in the tank, as long as a powerhead is pushing water through it. The key is that you want water movement through these "pebbles."

Buzz is right on here. The more water you have flowing through the media, the better it will work. I will hang anything I need right in my tank in a high flow area.

Yah, I believe you guys are right about this one. The media needs to have ample flow through it and I don't think the stocking is cuttin' it :( I went and bought a mess bag yesterday and I think the key will be to transfer the pebbles into the bag and place them into the tank. I think I'll get more benefit :) I had to actually pound the rock down a little into smaller pieces with a hammer to get it to fit right in my filter canister! That was a trip! I think the other way will be a whole lot easier :D
