Adding a Hippo Tang with one already???

I got a good deal on a 3-4'' Hippo Tang, so I couldn't pass it up. I have the same size one in my tank already. When I added him/her to the tank they both ran around for a while and then just stopped and looked at each other. They would raise they fins and look at each other face to face for a while. Then the black stripes on one of them turn almost grey translucent and the other just watched. This went on for about an hour, then they seem to be best of friends now. I was wondering if this was normal for them when meeting. Has anyone seen their's act this way? It was very interesting to watch.

you should keep tangs that are campatible of schools in odd numbers.
If you have a very large tank you might have a shot?
I have 3 hippos in my 210, I had 2 hippos in my 210 for a couple of months but i have a good sized tank and one was alot smaller than the other.
Keep a very good eye on them and i would add a third asap!
what size tank?

They like it, so that is your opinion. You should see what is living happy in there right now.

Yes, that is normal behavour. Not really recommended for them to be together in that size tank, but sounds like you have a handle on things. Yes, curiosity has me going; what else you have in there?

Sounds like a normally stocked 90 gallon reef tank. I'd love to see pics of the angel and the pair of hippos. Do they hang out or do they tend to stay away from each other?

The Tangs and the Angel have their own hiding places, but when they are swimming around during the day they like to all swim together. Even the clowns swim with them sometimes.
