My tank was already established when I purchased it. It was running for a 1.5 yrs, it was torn down for about 3-4 hrs, so that I could set it up in my house. It has just a little sand more cc subtrate than anything.

I feel that the seaclone is not doing its job. I figure that I would start a second one and remove the seaclone evenually.

ok, i am not a expert and have only been involved with this for about two years!
i think that a second skimmer at this point is a waste of money.
get rid of the cc and get some ls.
the cc does nothing for the tank! infact it can be harmful. it just gathers debries ect.
live sand is essential for a good reef tank.
i would recomend about 3".

Since you are in the mood to spend money, I would suggest that you skip the protein skimmer and invest in a small sump under your tank so you can cultivate macro algae. The trick is to by standard output florescence and leave them on over your sump 24 hours a day. This prevents any toxins from the algae leeching back into the water because the algae is in a constant state of growth. Since I add one to my tank it has worked wonders. The best part my nitrates are o! Micro environments spon all kinds of critters and are great for you tank.

Coralgyrl,
Sure ..... if you feel the Seaclone is not up to snuff, and you want a new skimmer, who are we to tell you what to do or not do :D
There are a hundred things you could do ... but your question was regarding adding an additional skimmer.
Go get ya one !!!
and have fun ;)

You can "NEVER" over skim!!! I have two skimmers one in the sump rated for a 250 gallon tank, and a seaclone hanging on the back rated for 100 gallons. My tank is a 135, you can't go wrong skimming all you can. :)

This might sound a little crazy but, I was told that since I had an all-glass aquarium that I could not have a sump, just a skimmer. How true is this? Where is the best place to buy live sand, and how much do I need? I seen a website where I could buy a sump for $199.00 for a 22 gallon.

Two of the corals died at fedex,(received full return) and after taking you guys advice I cancelled my order. I just purchased 75lbs of ls & 75lbs of lr (already established),giving me a total of 155lbs of lr. My question may sound dumb, but is this enough ls for a 75 gallon, or do I need more?

i forgot the math. it depends on the dimentions of your tank though.
just try to get between 3 & 4".
i think 75lbs will be plenty though.
