Adding Another Canister Filter

Can anyone tell me if by adding another canister filter to an existing tank will it hurt the biological setup of the first and the tank also will the second filter cycle or can I add cycled water to the filter to get it going. Thanks

I don't think so, the first canister will keep the tank going while the other starts to pick up the beneficial bacteria. It is good to have two canisters, only do maintenance on one, clean one one moth then the other the next. How big is your tank and what kind of canisters are you running?

125 Gallon I run A Fluval FX5 now but I want to add a filstar xp3 just for polishing I don't want to run a sump in the past I have run them they get real messy and they smell to high heaven I know their better but I think by running two canisters will do the trick

I would love to but I already had the xp3 from my freshwater tank so I was thinking why not save some money plus I already have plenty of movement I run 2 maxi-jet 1400

I like them I have an A-Miricle 100 but I cracked it at the pump bulk fitting I fixed it and then my pump took a crap plus my better half didn't like the noise and the smell so I opted for the canister
