My tank has been eatablished approx 3 months . I would like to add a piece of base rock to my live rock. Does it have to be cleaned any certain way before it is introduced into the tank?

if it is dry base rock i would still scrub and rinse it in a batch of new saltwater. this way you will remove much of the dust and/or dirt from the base rock.
