adding base rock

I was thinking about adding some more rock to my tank. I already have a bunch of lr in there for some years now but I want to add some more and just thinking about adding some cheap base rock. Could I just put this stuff in a QT and let it acclimate and whatnot get all of the debris off and just add it in? it shouldn't really have any dieoff but is it still going to spike my levels? thanks.

I dont really know why you would quarintine it it shouldnt have any organic matter. It will have some fine rock powder that you could rinse. No organic matter=no die off= no levels spike.

You can buy old rock that was once LR. That way you don't have to worry about it spiking your ammonia and is sold at some LFS for pretty cheap.
