.You can add LR any time, if you have fish in your tank you need to QT the rock for 6 weeks. While in QT ghost feed tank as if there was a fish in tank this will feed the inverts living on the rock and keep the bacteria alive. As for adding coral this depends on the age of your tank, lighting what type of coral you want and what is in your tank currently
+1
You can't add coral until it even safe to add fish, the tank must cycle first, corals are super sensitive to water conditions and
during the cycle, a fish has a chance to maybe survive it...but a coral does not. (Just a thought) You can however add decorative macroalgae to the display, and it will help to get the parameters in check much faster.
Like Mr. LLimpid said, you can add rock anytime, however I want to add...You must move the sand to one side and make sure your rock is on the bottom of the tank, you should not build on shifting sand. It won't create a sand storm as long as you do it slow, then just a slow, push it back around the rock after it's set up to your liking. Too many SW critters dig, even the CUC (Clean UP Crew)
I think Bang Guy said something about three points of the rock touching that makes a sturdy rock work...I tried to do a search and find it, but can't...anybody able to help???? Maybe PM Bang Guy and ask him about it.
