Adding cured LR after cycling

Hi all!!!! I have a question...my 55 gal. tank just finished cycling:
Ammonia- 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 10
PH - 8.2
Salinity - 1.021
I just ordered some cured LR and was wondering if when I put it in will it make my tank re-cycle?? Also, I since I am adding about 50 lbs of LR I will need to take out some water to accommodate it - can someone give me some info on doing a water change???
Thanks in advance!!

If you ordered the rock on line then it is not Pre-cured as it will have lots of die off from shipping. It will cause a spike if you add it to the tank. Several options here; cure it in a seperate container, then put it in,
Or, place it in tank with no fish and monitor and change water frequently. Since you should not have fish right now then that will be the best I think.

I agree too. If you add it all and do a bunch of water changes, its going to take just as long for the die off to stop generating ammonia as it would if you didnt do any water changes. I say throw it all in and do a water change once your levels settle down.

I agree with Tim. Add the rock to the tank and wait out the cycle. It shouldn't be as big as the first but still noticable. After the cycle, do a nice water change and you should be good to go.

If you trust the LFS in that it is FULLY cured then that shouldnt be a problem.

If you get it pre-cured from the LFS, I'd still wait a few days after putting it in and test for ammonia just to be 100% sure.
