Adding Fish

My tank has been up and running for more then a month and a half and just last Wednesday I added two camel back shrimp, 3 hermit crabs, and two snails. My question is that I didnt want to overload my tank and was wandering when it would be ok to add two clown fish. They will be my only fish and the tank with aspirations of only adding maybe a feather duster later. Also is this a sufficent clean up crew? Finally, I was looking at getting a cleaner shrimp at first but the person at the LFS said that they would grow to large for a 10 gallon tank. Is this accurate? If not would they be able to do alright since I already have the two camel backs in their? Once again thanks for your help in advanced.

Your tank has been running for long enough. As long as all your levels are ok putting 2 clowns in will not be a problem, especially if your tank has been set up w/LR LS.

I'd wait another couple of weeks to make sure the inverts do okay. If they do, check the water parameters again and if they're good add the clowns. I'd add a couple more hermits and snails and skip the shrimp. :D

Perfect. Thanks for the help guys. I think I am going to wait till the end of the month to get the little guys. On another note like I previously mentioned the only fish I will be adding will be the two clowns. I would like to get something for them to host in but dont have the lights for an anenome. Is there anything else that a clown will host with, or even has a chance of hosting with that I could add in. Which leads me to asking if there are any good beginner corals that dont require strong lights that would be a good addition. Once again thanks for the help.

For the few hermits you toss in, I'd go w/ the scarlet legged hermits. More expensive than the blue hermits, but the blues fight amongst themselves more and kill more beneficial nutrients/organisms than the scarlets. Made quite a difference in maintaining organisms in my nano, scarlets tended to do better in my nano as well.

Mushrooms, zoos, leathers, polyps etc. would all be good starter corals. Clowns don't need a host to survive, but if they accept one it's cool. Mine are hosted by a Hammer coral and there are others also. It's all up to the clown. :D

Once again I cant thank you all enough for all the help you have given me. Bigarn you mentioned those corals would they be capable of surving/thriving without high lighting? MorayM I have scarlet hermit crabs now and like you said will most likely be going with them again due to the reason of aggression. Once again thanks in advanced.
