Adding live rock in an established aquarium

Hello,
My tank has been up for about 6 months now. I have 20 pounds of live rock already, and will probably be purchasing about 40 pounds tomorrow. It will be direct out of another persons aquarium, and the journey should be about 30 minutes. Will I have to do anything special to the rock?

keep the rock wet, I would just get a container to hold the rock and add some water from that person's tank or bring some water from your own. If there is no die off, you're fine.
wrapping the rock in wet newspaper will also work, but seems like a lot of work for a short time.
