Adding Live Sand to an established 90gal reef tank

Can I add live sand to an allready established tank. Want to add more live rock and some coral.

Yes you can, go with something like Natures Ocean. Your best bet is to take everything out, addd the new sand and then put everything back.

It is NOT necessary to remove anything from the tank.If you are using a "wet packed"live sand,just pour it in around the rock,then spread it out with your hand...If you are adding "dry sand" you should soak it in water for a few days till it sinks,Then just drain off the water,rince it a couple times with clean/fresh water and pour it in...I am hoping you are NOT going to be adding this sand over the top of crushed coral(CC). This is not advisable.It would be best to remove the CC then put the sand down...

TY for your replies. My substrate is made up of small shells and fine white powder. This tank is set up at my place of employment and I am assuming responsibility for it. My water has tested perfect ph is 8.2,ammonia is 0ppm,nitrites 0,nitrates 0. But the tank looks dead red algae and brown anemones are growing all over it. Help!!! any suggestions and welcome and needed.
