adding live sand to established tank???

i am curious as to what people think about adding a 20lb bag of live sand to a tank that has been running for 3 years. is it good idea or bad idea? and why? :notsure:

if you have CC then adding the LS is a good idea, but there are a few people here who believe that CC is just as good or better than LS
but if you add it do it carefully turn off all PH and return pumps, and cut off a corner of the bag and put it into the water and gently pour out the sand to minimize your water from getting cloudy, and i suggest doing small amounts at a time
