adding live sand

I have a 75 gallon tank with 55 lbs of agronite and 15 lbs of cc I want to add some live sand should I just dump it in and how much should I get I now have a yellow tang and 4 damsels in the tank, by adding the live sand will it hurt them

First of all you should not mix cc and live sand. If you do use LS I wouldn't just dump it in, it makes the water very cloudy and the fish will have a hard time trying to breath. Use a cup and slowly pour it in at the bottom of the tank. You should have 2-4 inches of LS. ;)

Well like I said on the other board, don't mix the two. You can go with a shallow CC bed, talking about 1 1/2 inches or so. But you will get told to go with a DSB, but that takes $$.. I won't comment on it more than that. If you do decide to keep the cc bed, like I said make sure it is shallow. I realize that money dosnen't grow on trees for people..you already have cc so if that's what you are going with then it should be fine.... I am sure I will hear about that one :) FYI - I too have a cc bed, had it for 5 years with no problems....but that's just my experience.

ok so in my 75 gallon tank the 55 lbs of agronite and the 15 lbs of cc will be ok I dont need to add anything else right?
