What should be the first thing that i add to my cycled aquarium?

I also would say start small with fish not as expensive until your comfortable then move up. Most everyone likes and wants a clown "nemo" so I would suggest that. I guess well to be honest it just depends on what route your taking the tank and what you like that can be in there.

[whats in there now nothing? what type of tank are you going for? fish only, live rock or a reef? if its a fish only first decide what type of fish. carnivores? or more of a community tank. the same with a live rock tank but you will need inverts and stuff to groom your rock. if its gonna be a true reef with corals then you have to be real careful.
if its a reef or live rock i would add a cleaner crew. starfish (reef safe) hermits. snails, shrimp (reef safe) etc. and get an idea of what type of fish you want too. add the least aggressive first and least expensive. a clown or two, some chromis, or anthias. and work your way up slowly. blenny's and gobies are cheap and easy. after a month or so maybe add an angel. bullies like tangs should always go in last. I am planning on starting with a FOWLR for right now and maybe upgrade to a reef after christmas or somethin. I think im am going to start with 2 clowns, a scooter blennie, 1 brittle starfish, a couple of hermits, a couple of snails, some peppermint shrimp, and maybe a lettuce nudibranch. After a couple of weeks i think i am going to add a firefish or should i add the firefish with everything else. I know i am going to quarantine all of my fish, prob not the inverts. any info is helpful for me. thanks

I would add the Snails and a couple of hermits first. Not too many though. Snails wont have much to eat at first and I personally only keep 4 hermits in my 60 and they are small. They can be destructive in a reef. I would also add the clowns. Then the firefish a couple weeks later. I would also wait a little longer on the star.
The scooter blenny and Lettuce Nudi I would not add at all for AT LEAST 1 year. That will also dpened on the size of your tank. What size is it???

ok i have a 24 g nano cube. wouldnt the blenny help clean and filter the sand. so should i add the starfish with the firefish? thanks for the help

No scooter blennies eat copepods and need a very established tank to survive. It will starve in a 24G. Live sand does not need to be cleaned. I would wait until you have had livetock in your tank for about 6 months before adding the star. They are a little more sensitive to water quality issues. Give yourself some time to get used to dealing with the tank. 24g is hard to keep balanced and you will have to keep up on your water changes. Good news is clowns are hardy and will do great in there! I would go with the true percs since they are smaller. Or you could be exotic and get a pair of picasso's or N_Ked clowns.

No scooter blennies eat copepods and need a very established tank to survive. It will starve in a 24G. Live sand does not need to be cleaned. I would wait until you have had livetock in your tank for about 6 months before adding the star. They are a little more sensitive to water quality issues. thats all good except the blenny wait awhile for him. and a sand sifting star would be good. dont need to quarantine the inverts just drip acclimate an add. be careful on which type of clowns you pick some are more agressive than others. percula's or sebae's are my choice. but one or the other. i personally have both in the same system but its not recommended. i just got lucky, lol they think there brothers. make sure you feed your sand! if you add hermits and there is nothing to eat say bye bye to your snails. instead of the scooter blenny an algae eating blenny is good he'll take flake and brine if no algae is available atleast mine does. as far as the fire fish you can add him in with the clowns.

let a little flake/brine float down to the sand bed for any critters you may have in there. not too much ok. and ocellaris are a good hardy and peaceful choice, good luck!

i just go my tank up and running with untreated tap water to rince out and dust and sunday i am going to fill it with saltwater!!!! i cant wait!!!
