Adding Lock-Line to a BioCube 14 out take? Complicated?

Im trying to get my BC14 planned out before I get it. Is there anything special you need to do to the output to add lock-line onto it? Im switching out the stock pump and going with a MJ1200. I want to split the flow with a Y adapter but not sure if it will slip right on to the out take nozzel or if you need to mod it at all. Also, does anyone know what size diameter lock-line it will take? And is teflon tape ok to use to secure the lock-line on it or is there something else that I should use? Sorry for so many questions. Thanks for your help in advance!

Yep i did it... it works well.. you will need to use a little TLC and some elbow grease to get the fittings to work but its not difficult at all. You can see it on my thread with my pics.. The connection from the back of the tank outlet to the actual splitter is where you will run into issues. Although its 5/8 at least on mine it is (29 BioCube) the actual thickness of material used is different on the exhaust piece that the cube gives you than the loc line is. To fix this I took a piece of sand paper curled it and sanded down the inside diameter of the splitter. This was for 2 reasons first I needed a slightly larger diameter to fit the 2 together and second if by chance what I was doing didnt work out I havent altered any of the stock equip the cube gives you and I could go back to the original set up. Hope this helps
my post is..

Look at page 2 about 1/4 of the way down its not a great detailed pic but you can see it. Again on page 3 but my xenias are blocking the connection.

Alright.. I think I get it. You have to sand the inside of the y connector so the output of the tank can slide into it? Did you notice a snug fit or did you use anything to make sure it stayed on? Thanks for your help dark.

I have another question. There is not a FS around me that carries lock line so I have to make sure I do it right since im ordering online. What size lock line did you use? If you got it online can you pm me where you got it and what exact peices you used? Like I said I just have to make sure I do everything right.

YES thats what I had to do. If you go slowly and test it as you sand you can get a nice snug fit.

I had to take the fitting off my tank and I brought it into the FS with me. the important part is to measure properly. For instance, the outside diameter of the fitting that is going to snap into the inside of the Y piece of lock line. Then you will know the size of the lock line you will need. THe issue you will have is Oceanic uses different tolerances for their tubes then loc line does so even though you are matching 5/8 to 5/8 or 1/2 to 1/2 the fit will need some adjustment.

Alright. Seeming like all output nozzels would be the same regardless what size BC what size lock line did you use? I dont have the tank yet and was gunna get it all before I picked it up so there is no way for me to measure it. Thanks for the help again!
