adding LR to tank?

i have 16 lbs of display rock in a 5 month old 12gal aquapod... i'd like to add a little bit more live rubble rock to the slots in the back and i was wondering what effect it would have in the already established tank. when i bought my rock originally i never even went through a cycle, the rock was already cured and only a 2 minute drive from the LFS. Ill be going to the same place to pick up this new rock, but are there any precautions or procedures for adding more rock? do i add it slowly or is all at once ok? how much is too much? with 16lbs already, is it even worth it?

More LR is always a good idea. Adding it slowly over time is safer, but if you're sure it's cured then you shouldn't have any problems adding it all at once.

is it possible to have too much LR / gal of water? is there a point at which the bio-load from the LR itself is greater than the benefit?

Live rock doesn't add bioload, it compensates for it. There is no limit on how much live rock you can put into your tank as long as your critters have breathing room.
As was said, you can put cured rock right into your tank as long as you do it little by little.
