adding lr

I want to add lr to my tank and was wondering if this can be done without killing my fish. will the load make my tank re-cycle?

Depends how much you put in at once and if the LR is well cured. (One way to know it ISNT is if it smells really bad in spots.) Also how much "stuff" is on it that will likely die off? I've been adding pieces here from the lfs to the main tank and there and no spikes. I now have a 20 gal set up to ensure the rock is "cured" before I put it in my main tank.

I agree with Sandy. If you are ordering LR online you will need to cure it before adding it to your tank. If you plan to pick up a piece every few weeks from you LFS you should be fine.
Do a search on LR on this site...many posts about it and the curing process.

Via reading the message board I see that many users have bought LR from tbsaltwater.com. Luckily it is right down the street from my house. If I buy lr from them will it be cured? Additionally what exactly does "cured" mean?
