Will adding ls to an established tank make it go through another cycle? I am expecting a shipment of some today and was wondering can I just pour it in?

Thanks. I am running a Tetratec PF300 filter in a 30g long. I guess I should turn the protein skimmer off too, right?

If you are getting BAGGED WET live sand, the best/easiest way to add it is to #1 wipe off the outside of the plastic bag.#2 carefully cut the entire top open.#3 put the whole bag into the tank..Then just turn it over and shake the sand out. This sounds a bit drastic, but I have added MANY bags of Natures Ocean sand to tanks this way.The sand comes out of the bag,and settles right to the bottom.Plus you get every single grain of sand in the tank with NO mess.Clouding is also minimal,so shutting down the filters is not needed...

Also,Adding LIVE SAND will not cause a recycle.A recycle will occure if you are removing bacteria, and not replacing it.Say if you were to remove all your CC substrate and replace it with dry/Non live sand. This would surely cause a recycle.

do you have any sand now???
if not, defintely follow the above suggestion, and if so, then still follow it, but only add about 1/4 inch or so at a time, every 2weeks or so, until you have the desired depth
